In 1949, at Edwards Air Force Base, an engineer working on Air Force test crashes was aggravated at a particularly inept technician.
Col. John P. Stapp, hearing the description, named the concept for the engineer, Capt. Edward A. Murphy.
Stapp had a law of his own.
"The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle."
Ironic considering Stapp's law never caught on like Murphy's Law.
