During the 1959 World Series, Melvin Piehl, a motor oil company executive, accidentally spilled his cup of beer on White Sox left fielder Al Smith. 

The only thing that keeps this organization from being recognized as one of the finest in baseball is wins and losses at the major league level.

Piehl reported he was trying to catch the ball so it would not hit his boss’s wife.The White Sox lost the World Series to the Los Angels Dodgers.
