The Crazy Nebulous Aunt

My brother and I lived in different states when our kids were little so they didn't know Aunt Alex very well nor did they know Aunt Alex was on the Meet-Religion-With-Hostility express bus.

When his oldest daughter turned 8, they were planning her baptism into the Mormon church.

My Brother: Who do you want to give a talk at your baptism? You can pick anyone you want.
My Niece: Aunt Alex

Extended pause to appreciate the humor

My Brother: You can pick anyone you want . . . out of the list I'm going to make.

Ha! The crazy, nebulous aunt trumps the multitude of familiar, religious people. Who knew I would be the popular aunt?
