One swing to rule them all

A few times, years ago,
I agreed to be bundled up,
stuck on a bus and taken up to the slopes.
Skiing is not an accurate term.
Falling, sliding, rolling . . . all more descriptive and accurate.

I gave up events that involved
cold or sogginess or
requiring an ambulance at the ready

Now, had I known that combining outdoor athletic events
 with Witchcraft
was an option,
I think I would have stuck it out a bit longer!

But, really, this is much more my speed.

“I’m not a Witch; I’m your wife.”
The Princess Bride

A conversation with the middle kid several years ago:
“Mom, are you a witch?”
“I guess it depends on who you ask.”

"In the past men created witches;
now they create mental patients."
Thomas Szasz

“I’m not superstitious.
I’m a witch.
Witches aren’t superstitious.
We are what people are superstitious of.”
Terry Pratchett

Middle kid conversation continued:
“If you were a witch,
that would be awesome because
I would be
the daughter of a witch.”
“Is that like a son of a bitch?”
“Mom, it means I would be part witch and
that would be awesome.”

“Most books on witchcraft
will tell you that
witches work naked.
This is because most books
on witchcraft
were written by men.”
Neil Gaiman

Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Bedemir:  What makes you think she is a witch?
Villager #3:  Well, she turned me into a newt.
Bedemir:  A newt?
Villager #3:  I got better.

“A major difference
between witches and psychotherapists is that
witches see the mental health of women
 as having
important political consequences.”
Naomi R. Goldenberg

“Alaska is what happens when
Willy Wonka and the witch from Hansel and Gretel elope,
buy a place together upstate,
renounce their sweet tooth
 and turn into health fanatics.”
Sloane Crosley

“I’ve always thought
Prince Charming in Cinderella was the most boring role;
I’d rather be the Wicked Witch.”
Jude Law

The Witch-King of Angmar
The Lord of the Nazgul
The Black Captain

That's how he rolls!
