Remember
this cat? Right on! It’s Easy Reader from the Electric Company.
I am so
old, I remember when the Electric Company had its first show. The network put
up an information sheet on the TV screen about the program and I was mad because
it interrupted Sesame Street. But my mom
was excited about it, two kid-appropriate AND educational programs available!
Recognize
him now? (No, it’s not Christopher Reeve. The other guy.) He got his first
Oscar nomination for Street Smart. (And Ha! I am young enough I haven’t seen
this movie about pimps and hookers.)
If you
aren’t too young, you probably watched him in Glory. (No, it isn’t Denzel. The
other guy.)
Another
one for the over 30 crowd, and his second Oscar nomination, for Driving Miss
Daisy. (You know who I’m talking about right?)
I’m
sure you recognize this. The Shawshank Redemption and the third Oscar
nomination. (Did you know Shawshank Redemption and the Green Mile are both
Stephen King books? I knew you did!)
He won
the Oscar in 2004 for best supporting role in Million Dollar Baby.
His
latest Oscar nomination was for Invictus.
He also
narrated the Oscar winning documentary, March of the Penguins.
So Mr.
Morgan Freeman, actor extraordinaire, and at 75, is absolutely fantastic! Two trivia questions. (Which I got wrong.
Guessed way too high on both.)
How
many times has he played the US President?
Just
once, Deep Impact 1998
"I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man."
How
many times has he played God?
"I don't get off on romantic
parts. But I often think if I had had my dental work done early on, well,
maybe."
"I don't want a Black History Month. Black history is American history."
"The best way to guarantee a loss is to quit."
