Thyroid Poster Girl

I have an enlarged thyroid. It’s been that way for years. My thyroid function is normal so I’ve never thought of it as a big deal. When we were first learning how to do a thyroid exam in school I was the practice thyroid girl. It was almost like I was popular!
So during my trip to the ER a few months ago, I had a scan done on my head and neck. Guess what it revealed. Yep, an enlarged thyroid. The doc was concerned and wanted me to get it looked at. (Keep in mind, I was in the ER for severe, long lasting vertigo. That he had no idea about.) So I got two ultrasounds on my throat and made an appointment with the Endocrinologist. She said it was probably nothing and she could biopsy it if I wanted or I could just leave it alone. “Leave it alone please.”
To summarize; vertigo is the primary complaint and thyroid is not a concern of mine. Able to make an appointment with Endocrinologist in a week, able to make an appointment with the neurologist in a few months.

What is wrong with this picture? Can you see it!?! The HUGE thyroid bursting out of my neck? Well if you had just learned about thyroid maladies you would!

Interesting post.
Even if your thyroid is enlarged (it does not look that way on the picture) I only noticed a prominent voice box aka "madam's apple"
