Missiles, we’ve got them, let’s use them!

“Rocket Man, burning out his fuse up here alone.” ― Elton John
Who is old enough, I mean mature enough, to remember “Duck and Cover.” Even as I kid I thought it was a dumb idea. I always pictured the desks crumbling on impact and making pancakes out of the class. In my six year old mind, I reasoned that if a bomb threat happened I was jolly well going to run outside and take my chances.
"Last week North Korea publicly admitted for the first time it has nuclear weapons. The Bush administration has so far shown very little concern, as the North Korean missiles are believed only capable of reaching the Blue States." --Jon Stewart
Anyway, I spent a couple of years terrified, just waiting for the bomb that was going to wipe us out. I would run home as fast as I could and hide in a little cubby area we had.
“I believe everybody in the world should have guns. Citizens should have bazookas and rocket launchers too. I believe that all citizens should have their weapons of choice. However, I also believe that only I should have the ammunition. Because frankly, I wouldn't trust the rest of the goobers with anything more dangerous than string.” – Scott Adams
THEN the teachers started talking about bomb shelters and the aftermath of a nuclear explosion. I just about lost my mind! I went home and insisted my dad built one and he insisted he wouldn’t so more hiding in the cubby. No wonder I need therapy!
“It's not rocket surgery!” ― David Lee Roth
