I am SO happy

Life is worth living because things like this exist.

Stephen Fry has a program called QI and youtube was created so I can watch it!

Oh the geek bliss!

In my complete overdose of nerdom, I have learned that there is a fourth Wise Monkey.

You know; See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil (a sign from the Manhattan project).

The fourth monkey is Do No Evil.

Want to guess what that monkey is covering?

The illustrious Mr. Fry also is aware that several items of apparel popular with the Royals are named for English gentry who fought in the Crimean War.

Wellington boots via Arthur Wellesly, 1st Duke of Wellington

Cardigan Sweater via James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan

Raglan sleeve via FitzRoy James Henry Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan who lost his arm in the Battle of Waterloo

The Crimean war also popularized the adhesive rubber trenchcoat made by Charles Mackintosh. At the end of the war, Thomas Burberry offered a luxury version.

(How very British to offer a luxury item for the peerage heading to supervise the war.)

However, Jodhpurs are named after the son of the Maharaja of Jodhpur. He visited Queen Victoria during her Diamond Jubilee and wore the trousers to play polo.

No wonder the British can seem so uptight! Current fashion based on peerage dress from a war in the 1850's.

Seriously! Where else are you going to learn this stuff!?!

One final bit?

You won’t be sorry.

Start at 1:40

Italian pop star Adriano Celetano, in 1972, singing Prisencolinensinainciusol.

Can you make out the words? It isn’t Italian.

It is babble made to sound like American English including “ol rait.”

Hit the pop charts at number 4 in Belgium, 5 in the Netherlands and 6 in France.

I Know!!

(Enormous sigh in socially-inept, dorky contentment.)

Steven Fry, my hero.

Me too! I've spent hours watching episodes. Thank God that stuff like this exists to counter all the stupid crap that is on youtube. Thanks for looking!
