Rat Pack(ish) meets Brat Pack(ish) via Phat Pack(ish)

My very cute, recently turned teen daughter, as is typical for most recently turned teen daughters, meanders the house with musical accompaniment via cell phone. To further cement my age in the, “Mom! You are SOOOO old!” category, I generally do not recognize song, artist or the resulting noise as “music.”

The other day, the accompaniment was . . .

Wayne Newton’s Danke Schoen

What? Wayne? Newton? Mr. Entertainment?

Naturally, I enquired of my child as to the circumstances of enjoying Mr. Las Vegas.

Mister? This is a guy!?!

So you obviously have not acquired a love of The Midnight Idol watching his performances.

It was in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Well that is true, but that movie predates you by 14 years so the mystery isn’t solved.

Evidently, she has been collecting recommendations. Better Off Dead is also a favorite. However, Everybody Wants Some by Van Halen does not appear to have made the musical cut. Perhaps if they would have stuck to the acceptable musical decade and tried the cover of Louis Prima's Just a Gigolo

An argument could be made for Doris Day's Que Sera Sera or Bobby Darin's Mack The Knife. Same music genre but corresponding movies are definitely not appreciated by the aficionado of wacky yet touching, teen comedy, circa1985's.

However, Pretty in Pink?  I'm thinking that may be a contender.
