Brave New World and Bundle of Dirty Clothes

There isn't a child who hasn't gone out into the brave new world who eventually doesn't return to the old homestead carrying a bundle of dirty clothes.  Art Buchwald

Sitting with the oldest kid one day after Elementary school, “What do you like about school?” “Lunch.” “Do you like recess?” “Nope. It’s too hot and sweaty.”

Twelve years later, my most fantastic child is starting College! That’s right, evolution beyond Lunch! And to give the kid lots of props, self-transformation from here:

The young always have the same problem--how to rebel and conform at the same time. They have now solved this by defying their parents and copying one another. Quentin Crisp

to here:

College is a refuge from hasty judgment. Robert Frost

Sigh.  Maybe I should send her with this:

Just to give her some hope for lunch while at school but not lunch of the school.

Maybe I could track her down on campus and drop it off, in front of her class, mid lecture. Just so she knows I love her.

Can you imagine the War of the Worlds to follow?!? Cafeteria it is!
