The vast difference between 40 years old and 45 years old

It seems that in the last few years my body came to a fork in the road; age gracefully or totally fall apart. Want to guess which one my brain picked? I’ve had this discussion with my frontal lobes, making it clear that they were to supervise the process in a mature and dignified manner. However, I think there was a mutiny and parts of my cortex were left stranded on some deserted island. That would explain my lack of retention and decline in attention span. In the mornings, I’m starting to do the old lady shuffle until everything is awake and accounted for. An afternoon nap is becoming mandatory instead of a luxury. I also have to do the eye glasses perched at the end of my nose so I can peek over the lenses maneuver. I wouldn’t mind getting older, it’s all that aging I’m against.
“What most persons consider as virtue, after the age of 40 is simply a loss of energy.” Voltaire
