Pink and Songs and Sex and Math

My car sound system plays two things: NPR and Books on Tape. It cries if it has to play other things. However, the 12 year old does not appreciate the sensitive nature of my sound system and forces it to spew other sounds. The rule is NO RAP. I’ve tried to explain to her that rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art but she is not appreciative of this analogy.
Anyway, she loves Pink, loves her, and gives me weekly updates me on Pink’s personal life. Our new game is, when Pink is on the radio, she will ask me, “Who is this mom?” “Um Pink?” “Yes! You are a good mommy!”
She also loves a very sexually suggestive song. (Imagine such a thing being in pop culture!) So I asked her, “Do you know what this means.” Sigh! “Yes mom. I know about songs and sex and math.” “OK, as long as you think it is about math we are just fine!” “No. Because last night I couldn’t do math homework but now I know how to do it.” So, she will be a well-educated gangster. Every parent’s dream.
