My Thanksgiving

I try not to get too saccharine about things because sarcastic humor is much more my style. So, indulge me for a bit, unless you’ve already been indulging me with the Trekkie versus Twihard posts and have reached the end of indulging allotment. This Thanksgiving, I find myself laid off, savings almost gone, required to make my 17th move in 22 years, minimal prospects of finding a house, embroiled in a two year court battle with little hope of quick resolution, crazy neurological symptoms and no health insurance, still fat, still clinically depressed and a single mom. Honestly, it gets pretty damn overwhelming.
I drove to Yuma last night (a 2 ½ hour drive each way) to pick up my middle kid for Thanksgiving. You know what? I have great kids. It sure as hell isn’t the result of great patriarchal or matriarchal parenting. I’m just very, very, very lucky.
