Fat Kids

I have the unfortunate distinction of being the large sister among my siblings. When I was little, I was in the low percentage of standard weight but my sisters were in the so low they were off the chart percentage of weight. Next to them, at a size 6, I was a fatty. I remember cautionary tales of weight gain told by my well-intended mother and grandmother. But, my addiction of choice has always been food. I had the metabolism to compensate until early adulthood and then it was all over. I had even had a call from a concerned neighbor asking why I had gained so much weight because my family was known for its skinny girls. Sigh!!

“I love you like a fat kid loves cake!” Scott Adams
“McDonald’s has added apple slices to their Happy Meals. Then an hour later, McDonald’s added cheese and beef to their apple slices.” –Conan O’Brien
“My mother named me after my father, Angus; a cow's name, which didn't help matters much, because I was a big kid.” “I perceived my family situation as relatively normal, until I began to collect expert opinion around kindergarten.” From the Movie Angus
My suggestions for solving childhood obesity? One, disband agricultural society revert to hunting and gathering and two, in my hypocritical, drive through McDonalds for a large Diet Coke opinion, STOP subsidizing pink slime.
