Upcycled

My sister-in-law and I have been talking about making a little business upcycling things.  Upcycling is when you take old stuff and make it into something with another purpose.  For example, adding a wire handle to a mason jar to make a tea light hanger or using hardback book covers to make the covers of a journal.

We’ve discussed it for a few months and decided to focus on party decorations; garland, lights, centerpieces, etc.  My brother remains reluctant because he knows he will be roped into participating.  Recently he got some old furniture for free.  Yesterday I came to see him and he was refinishing an old desk.  (It looks great.) He’s decided to go into a competing business with us “but I’ll make more money because I will actually get things done.”  Good point! I bet he will, hands down, cream us in the business world because making something is better than not making something.  I think this would be a good reality show – husband and wife competing in a crafty business. I would watch it.
