Pre-teen Confidence

The kid tried out for the volley ball team and didn’t make it. Instead of feeling bad she tried out for the soccer team and didn’t make it. Instead of feeling bad she decided to take cheerleading classes so she could try out for the cheerleading squad.
Isn’t it sad that pre-teen confidence has to turn into teen angst? On the other hand, I think I was born with angst.
So another story about my kid (see “pre-teen confidence” and “try outs” in August for more of this story.)
She calls me two days ago. “Mom, its basketball try outs. Will you pick me up after?”
She made the first cut!
Then yesterday she went to the second cut and didn’t make it. She was sad but she brushed it off. “I’m only in 6th grade so I bet I’ll make it next year when I try out.”
