Invitations: Part 1

My mom and my dad both retired in October last year. (Not to mention my sister got married between parties.)   We came up with some fun invitation ideas and I thought I would share.  (I think these would also be great for a graduation, an anniversary or a birthday party.)

For my dad’s invitations, we needed to make an invitation card, an RSVP card and envelopes.

We wanted to make a fun type of “guess who” invitation so we took his old yearbook photo and scanned it into the computer.

We decided to have part of the photo show through from the front of the card and after trying a few options, it seemed like a circle punch would be the easiest way to do that.

A few mock-ups later, (well, lots of mock-ups later) we figured out how the information on the inside and the title on the front would look with the circle cut out.

We wanted to add some texture so instead of having everything printed right on the card, we chose to make layers and use a deckle edge in black.

Next, we chose a funny photo from the yearbook for the RSVP card.

Everything was printed in sections so it was easy to cut pieces to size and layer. At this point we were still thinking handmade invitations were a great idea!
